Advancing the Alliance: USFJ, JSDF transform future of Indo-Pacific Security
July 8, 2025 — The U.S.-Japan security alliance has entered a transformative era, most recently marked by Japan’s establishment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces Joint Operations Command and the ongoing evolution of our U.S. Forces, Japan headquarters. The security, freedom, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific face increasing challenges from adversarial nations, primarily the People’s Republic of China, and I can tell you firsthand that these threats are only intensifying.
