**JAPAN TRAVEL UPDATE**
All personnel traveling into Japan require a negative COVID-19 test within three days of travel, regardless of vaccination status, both commercial and military air.
For those unable to acquire a COVID test due to lack of availability, an exception to policy memo signed by the first O-6 in one's chain of command is needed to travel. Upon return, a restriction to domicile will be conducted until in receipt of a negative COVID test.

U.S. Forces Japan extends Japan-wide public health emergency

The commander of U.S. Forces Japan has extended the Public Health Emergency (PHE) for Japan in accordance with DoD Instruction (DoDI) 6200.03, “Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) Within the DoD.” The PHE will automatically terminate on 25 July 2022, unless it is renewed and republished or sooner terminated by the commander. This order supersedes the previous PHE declaration for Japan issued on 2 June 2022.

Significant PHE Items
- USFJ will no longer require pre-departure testing for SOFA members on flights bound for the US.

- If travelers receive a negative molecular test (such as PCR) within 72 hours of travel to Japan, no arrival test or ROM is required regardless of vaccination status. If the pre-travel test is not molecular (including antigen), the current arrival testing and ROM policies (depending on vaccination status) will apply.
