Joint Statement on Trilateral Joint Chiefs of Staff Meeting

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii – United States Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, hosted Republic of Korea Army Gen. Lee, Sun-Jin, Chairman of the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Adm. Kawano, Katsutoshi, Chief of Staff of the Japanese Self-Defense Force, for a trilateral meeting in Hawaii February 10.

米韓日の軍トップによる3カ国会議 共同声明
真珠湾、ハワイ － ２月１０日、ハワイで米統合参謀本部議長ジョセフ・ダンフォード海兵隊大将、韓国合同参謀本部議長李淳鎮陸軍大将、統合幕僚長河野克俊海上自衛隊海将による3カ国会議が行われました。

The session, the seventh between the Defense Chiefs of the United States, Republic of Korea, and Japan, featured discussions on trilateral information sharing and collaboration in light of the increasing North Korean nuclear and missile threats.

今回で7回目となる米韓日防衛当局制服組トップによる会議では増加している北朝鮮の核およびミサイルの脅威に照らし合わせた３カ国間の情報共有と連携に焦点が当てられました。李合同参謀本部議長はハワイでの日米制服組トップの会議に加わる形で北朝鮮による１月の核実験と、今回の２月７日の長距離ミサイル発射に対する即応体制維持の為、ソウルからテレビ会議で参加しました。

The ongoing discussions reflected the nations’ efforts to enhance trilateral information sharing on North Korea nuclear and missile threat. The three chiefs of defense reconfirmed that North Korea’s fourth nuclear test and long range missile launch were direct violations of U.N. resolutions as well as serious provocations against the international community and agreed to firmly respond to the acts utilizing trilateral information sharing. The senior military leaders also agreed to coordinate further on mutual security issues to enhance peace and stability in the region.

継続されている会議は北朝鮮による核実験とミサイル脅威に関する３カ国間の情報共有を強化する取り組みを反映しています。３カ国の制服組トップは北朝鮮による４度目の核実験と長距離ミサイル発射が明白な国連安全保障決議違反であると同時に、国際社会に対する深刻な挑発であることを再確認し、こうした挑発行為には３カ国間の情報共有により堅固に対応することで合意しました。また、制服組トップは地域における平和と安定を強化する為より一層の相互安全保障に関して協力することで合意しました。
