YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan – The U.S. Senate has confirmed Lt. Gen. Edward A. Rice Jr., for promotion to the rank of General. Lt. Gen Rice has been in command of U.S. Forces, Japan and 5th Air Force since February 2008 and has been selected as the next Commander, Air Education and Training Command, Randolph AFB, TX.
The President of the United States has nominated Maj. Gen. Burton M. Field for appointment to the rank of Lieutenant General with assignment as Commander, U.S. Forces, Japan and Commander, Fifth Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Yokota Air Base, Japan. Maj. Gen. Field currently serves as the Senior Advisor to the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan/Pakistan, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
A U.S. Forces, Japan/5th Air Force change of command ceremony will be announced once a date for the event is established.

米国大統領はバートンM.フィールド少将を中将へ昇進させ在日米軍兼第5空軍司令官に指名しました。フィールド少将は現在、ワシントンDCは国防総省にて、アフガニスタン／パキスタン担当米特別代表への上級顧問として勤務しております。
在日米軍兼第5空軍司令官交代式については日時決定後改めて発表されます。
