USFJ Statement on GOJ Updated Security Documents

U.S. Forces Japan welcomes Japan's recently updated key strategic planning documents. The elevated prioritization of national security initiatives highlights the growing importance of our iron-clad Alliance to address an increasingly complex and severe security environment.

在日米軍は、日本が最近更新した重要な戦略計画文書を歓迎致します。国家安全保障のイニシアティブの優先順位が上がったことは、益々、複雑で厳しくなる安全保障環境に対処するための鉄壁の同盟の重要性が高まっていることを浮き彫りにするものです。

"Our Allies and partners remain an asymmetric advantage when it comes to credible deterrence, maintaining peace, and resisting attempts by some nations to disregard international norms," said Lt Gen Ricky Rupp, commander, U.S. Forces Japan. "The process of revising these important documents underscores Japan's commitment to security and peaceful prosperity in the region. Bottom line, we are stronger together and our alliance has never been more consequential to maintaining and protecting the peace," he said.

在日米軍司令官リッキー・ラップ中将は、「信頼できる抑止力、平和の維持、国際規範を無視する一部の国による試みに対抗するため、同盟国とパートナーは非対称の優位性を維持している」と述べました。また司令官は「これらの重要な文書の改訂作業は、地域の安全保障と平和的繁栄に対する日本のコミットメントを強調するものである。結論として、我々は共により強固であり、この同盟は平和を維持し守るためにかつて無いほど重要である」と述べました。
