U.S. Air Force CV-22 Osprey aircraft to arrive at Yokota AB

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan - United States Forces, Japan announced today that five U.S. Air Force CV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft are scheduled to arrive at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo later this week.

The arrival of the CV-22s in the Pacific Command Area of Responsibility addresses regional security concerns in line with the recently released 2018 National Defense Strategy and also provides a platform that can rapidly react to natural disasters or crises. As a result of these factors, the schedule for arrival of the CV-22s was adjusted from the previously announced 2020 timeline.

The CV-22s will remain at Yokota for a short time before leaving to conduct training around the region for the next few months. When they return from the training, they will continue to operate from Yokota. Additional unit personnel will arrive at Yokota over the next several months to support aircraft training operations in the region. A total of 10 aircraft are expected to be assigned to Yokota as part of a phased-basing plan over the next several years.

米空軍ＣＶ-２２オスプレイ、横田基地到着へ

在日米軍は本日、米空軍の垂直離着陸機ＣＶ－２２オスプレイ５機が、今週後半に東京の横田基地に到着することを発表致しました。

このＣＶ－２２の太平洋軍司令部管轄地域内への到着は、今年発表された国防戦略２０１８に沿うもので、地域の安全保障上の懸念に対処し、自然災害や危機に迅速に対応できるプラットフォームを提供します。これら要因の結果として、ＣＶ－２２の到着スケジュールは、以前公表された２０２０年から変更されました。

今後、ＣＶ－２２は周辺地域で行われる訓練に出発するまでの短期間、横田基地にとどまり、訓練から戻った後、横田にて運用を継続します。その後、数ケ月間かけて部隊の隊員が横田に到着し、地域内で航空機の訓練運用を支援します。数年間の段階的計画として、合計で１０機の航空機が横田基地に配備されることが予定されています。
