USFJ to host JGSDF aviation experts for information exchange

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan - United States Forces, Japan has coordinated with the Ministry of Defense to conduct an information exchange at MCAS Futenma February 1 with aircraft maintenance experts from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force. The purpose of the visit is to share technical information related to AH-1 and UH-1 helicopter maintenance procedures.

Maintenance experts at MCAS Futenma will provide JGSDF engineers more detail regarding the mechanical issues that led to three recent precautionary landings in Okinawa, and the steps that US forces took following those events to address those issues and ensure continued safe flight operations.

USFJ is confident in the safety and reliability of all US aircraft operating in Japan and the efforts of our aircrews and maintenance personnel to conduct safe flying operations. We believe that the information exchange on Thursday will provide our alliance partners with the necessary technical information, confirm the thoroughness of the US military's maintenance procedures, and reassure the Japanese people of our robust commitment to flight safety.

在日米軍は自衛隊専門家による情報共有を支援します。

横田基地―在日米軍は防衛省と調整し２月１日に陸上自衛隊から航空機整備に関する専門家を招き、普天間基地にて情報交換を行うことに致しました。この訪問の目的はAH-1とUH-1ヘリコプターの整備手順に関係する専門的情報の共有です。

 普天間基地所属の整備関連の専門家が自衛隊の技術者に沖縄における昨今の３件の予防的着陸へ繋がった機械的な課題を示し、また米軍がこれらの件の発生後にその課題を改善し継続して安全飛行運用を確実にした手順に関連するより詳細な情報を提供します。

 在日米軍は日本における米軍機の運用全ての安全と信頼性に、そして我々の航空隊員と整備士達の安全飛行運用の為の努力に自信があります。米軍は木曜日の情報交換が米軍の整備手順が徹底されていることについて必要な技術的情報を同盟国のパートナーに提供し、そして日本の国民の皆さんにも米軍が安全飛行を積極的に確約していることを再度明確にするものと確信いたします。
