2017 Overseas Housing Allowance Survey Guidance

17-021 | Sept. 19, 2017

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan —

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan –The Department of Defense is encouraging maximum participation from all members stationed overseas in completing the 2017 Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) Utility and Move-In Expenses Survey for Japan from Sept. 1 to Oct. 1, 2017.

The Overseas Housing Allowance is a valuable entitlement for those stationed overseas. The data provided from the survey will directly impact the Utility/Recurring Maintenance and Move-In Housing Allowances paid to members.

If you receive overseas housing allowance, have been in country at least three months, and reside in privately leased quarters as a lessee, please have either yourself or your spouse take a few minutes, go to the following link, and provide this vital feedback.

To better prepare for the survey, it is highly recommended that you collect actual bills, records of utility and recurring maintenance expenses incurred within the last 12 months, as well as bills and receipts for expenses incurred when moving into your residence.

While taking the survey is voluntary, maximum participation is essential as the Utility and Move-In Housing Allowances will be updated based on the results and will determine what members are paid at your location overseas.
