Bilateral training hones U.S., JASDF capabilities

KADENA AIR BASEA, Japan -- Aircraft took to the skies to practice defending Okinawa from simulated enemies during joint bilateral training here Feb. 22-26.
The training involved a variety of aircraft from the Navy, Marines, Army, and Japanese Air Self Defense Force and was aimed at training personnel for joint planning and execution of missions in simulated hostile scenarios. Kadena's 67th and 44th Fighter Squadrons joined forces with the JASDF 201st and 204th Fighter Squadrons for the first time, to make up the "blue air."Story

More than 160 members of the JGSDF participated the training.CAMP ZAMMA, Japan - More than 160 members of the Japan Ground Self Defense Force took part in a multi-day force protection field training exercise with U.S. Army Japan Soldiers at Camp Zama and Sagami General Depot Feb. 23 through Friday.
The JGSDF members, primarily from the JGSDF's 4th and 5th Engineer Groups, and U.S. Soldiers went through countless training scenarios during the annual antiterrorism exercise that instilled the critical skills necessary to keep installations safe from terrorist attacks.Story

Training enhances readiness during exercise Forest Light

NIHONBARA TRAINING AREA, Japan - The training conducted during Forest Light, a bilateral exercise between U.S. forces and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, has the added benefit of helping troops maintain combat mindsets and stay sharp on their units tactics, say Marines with Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, participating in the exercise.
